La foto és de l'illa de Burano i l'he haguda de copiar d'Internet perquè no sabem on hem posat el cable de la càmera...

Doncs sí, hem anat de vacances i ja hem tornat. Itàlia m’apassiona. El Vèneto m’ha agradat moltíssim, però encara no he trobat res que superi la Toscana. No es tracta d’explicar tot el viatge, és clar, però sí que hi ha una cosa que m’agradaria comentar. A Itàlia ens han preguntat unes quantes vegades d’on érem. Quan dèiem que de Barcelona (per simplificar) hi havia bàsicament dues reaccions:

A. Jo hi he estat i m’encanta.
B. Me n’han parlat molt bé i tinc moltes ganes d’anar-hi.

En tots dos casos afegien, precedit o no de preposició, la paraula fatídica: Espanya.

Aleshores començava la pedagogia. No, no som espanyols, som catalans. Alguns somreien i s’interessaven per un aspecte que no els era del tot desconegut; altres arronsaven les espatlles en un gest que volia dir “així aquest tema millor no tocar-lo...”; pocs feien cara de “no sé de què em parles”. Fos com fos, nosaltres ja ho havíem deixat anar i no volíem baixar d’aquest “burro”.

A la tornada vam fer nit a Niça, perquè el trajecte amb cotxe no es fes tan llarg sobretot a la canalla. En un restaurant vaig preguntar en francès al cambrer per un ingredient que no coneixia. Ell m’ho va explicar en francès, evidentment, ho vaig entendre perfectament i li vaig donar les gràcies, però el noi com excusant-se em va dir que li sabia molt de greu però que aquella paraula no la sabia en italià! El que tampoc no va saber és com interpretar les rialles de tota la família felicitant-me per la proesa: havia aconseguit que no ens confonguessin amb espanyols (si més no fora d’Itàlia!).

Està bé fer pedagogia per Europa, però trobo que falta fer-ne a casa nostra.
En moltes ocasions encara ens costa, ni que sigui, començar una conversa en català.
Al carrer, si se'ns acosta un turista que parla hongarès, per exemple, Qui no intenta fer-se entendre en castellà? (I gesticulant...) Per gestos ens entendrà igual en castellà que en català. Dic jo! No?
Molt bona l'anècdota de Niça. I molt sana la rialla de tota la família.
